Father making 'Mallory Flowers' to assist a child in requirement

A steel artist from Perry is bending and welding steel into gorgeous "Mallory Flowers" - all to assist his daughter.

" A flower is kind of innocent and lovely - and constructed out of steel, it's very strong," stated steel artist Ryan McDanel. "The examples are kind of remarkable at that point for my daughter, her condition and how she'll need to be a warrior, strong and lovely."

Mallory McDanel was born February 23. She had open heart surgery when she was just 2 days old. She was born at Strong Memorial Hospital, and has been living there ever since.

" She's an actually smiley infant," said mama KimmieMcDanel. "She's got tubes all over, a pick line, an IV, tube, sticker labels and she still smiles just about every day."

Kimmie said she first found out of Mallory's heart defect throughout the 19-week ultrasound.

"She came back and said, 'There's something incorrect with your infant's heart,'" Kimmie stated.

Mallory has an unusual condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Medical professionals say the left side of Mallory's heart is critically underdeveloped. She will have to have many more surgeries.

Mallory's daddy initially began making Mallory Flowers as an outlet. The stem remains in the shape of a heart and strokes up into a blossom of hope.

"I'm picturing her at four, five years old, driving in the car and seeing somebody who supported her - pointing it out, recognizing it," said Ryan.

"I'm simply hoping that Mallory can satisfy all the people who are supporting us," stated Kimmie.
